The Transportation and Communications Sector of the Public Transport Authority has submitted a draft amendment to the procedures and conditions for licensing public transport by buses within cities.
The draft included the addition of the following text for the inability of item Six to become: “It is permitted to submit a renewal application and fulfill all its conditions within a period of 90 days from the expiration of the license, otherwise the license will be considered revoked, without prejudice to the authority’s right to impose a financial fine (if any).” And adding a subparagraph with the number ( e) Within Paragraph 2 of Clause (Eighth) with the following text: “A period of 90 days has passed since the license expired without being renewed.” The legitimate amendment also witnessed the addition of a new violation to the schedule of violations for the activity of practicing public transport by buses within cities, so that it reads as follows: “Performing the activity with a revoked license.” The fine is 5,000 riyals.
Among the previous violations are practicing the activity without obtaining a license, practicing the activity with an expired license, not providing a main center for carrying out the activity in the city subject to the license, not providing a site for housing and accommodation for buses in the city subject to the license, not linking to the electronic systems of the authority that it determines, and operating a bus that is not available in it. All the approved specifications, conditions and technical equipment, operating a bus that does not meet all the approved necessary safety requirements, using a bus in activity for a period exceeding the approved operating age, operating a bus without obtaining an operating card and a fine of 5 thousand riyals for these violations.
The Public Authority for Transport seeks to raise the quality of passenger transport services by buses within cities by regulating and supervising activity, and raising operating efficiency in order to achieve the highest safety standards and requirements within the Kingdom, and is keen to create a suitable environment to attract investment in line with the economic and social development goals of the Kingdom’s Vision 2030.
