Yesterday (Tuesday), the Civil Defense Committee in Taif Governorate held a meeting chaired by the Governor of Taif, Chairman of the Civil Defense Sub-Committee, Prince Saud bin Nahar bin Saud, and in the presence of the Deputy Governor of Taif, Nasser Al-Subaie, and members of the committee, directors of government agencies. The Governor of Taif indicated the importance of the meetings of the civil defense committees Sub-regions in all regions of the Kingdom, which considers Taif Governorate within the system, appreciating the efforts made by the government sectors during the rainy cases that the governorate witnessed, directing to find urgent and sustainable solutions to ensure that what happened will not be repeated.
The meeting discussed the implementation of the general emergency plans of each party, including plans for rain and torrential rains, with each party carrying out the tasks and responsibilities mentioned, provided that the concerned authorities ensure the maintenance of culverts, drains of torrential rains and tunnels, and the provision of sufficient employment, equipment and necessary mechanisms such as pumps and suction tanks. And addressing the contracting companies to be present in critical sites where there is a lot of water gathering, in order to avoid the dangers resulting from the problems of rainwater gathering, and to do periodic maintenance for them, and to activate the infringement committees to prevent encroachment on the valleys, and to establish dirt soils to reserve water. The meeting discussed the readiness of the concerned authorities to face the rainy situation and any emergency resulting from it, and to ensure the presence of representatives from the Emergency Coordination Committee of the General Directorate of Civil Defense whenever the situation requires it.
The meeting came out with a number of recommendations, most notably the implementation of general emergency plans for each party, including plans for rain and torrential rain, and the intensification of the presence of the concerned government agencies during the rainy situation.
