While shooting and heavy artillery shells continue in parts of Khartoum today (Saturday), pictures showed the deployment of Sudanese police forces in the capital’s states to control security. Video footage revealed that Sudanese citizens welcomed the disembarkation of the Central Reserve Police forces in the central market area in Khartoum.
Eyewitnesses confirmed that there were limited clashes in the industrial zone in Khartoum and the city of Bahri, despite the declaration of a cease-fire. The vicinity of the presidential palace in Khartoum witnessed clashes with heavy weapons, amid rising plumes of smoke north of the capital.
For its part, the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) warned against the step of the police stepping down, and considered in a statement that the participation of the police in the battles in favor of the army is an expansion of the war circle. The RSF warned of what it described as “repeated attempts” to involve the Central Reserve Forces in the war.
The Sudanese police announced earlier the deployment of its forces in the streets to secure public and private property and control security in the country.
