Jordanian Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi described the Amman consultative meeting on Syria as “the beginning of a political track led by the Arabs to reach a solution to the political crisis,” stressing at the conclusion of the five-party ministerial meeting held today (Monday), in which Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan, Minister of Foreign Affairs, participated. Iraqi Fouad Hussein, Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shukri, Syrian Foreign Minister Faisal Al-Miqdad, that the challenges in Syria are great, and that the current situation there cannot continue.
Al-Safadi said during a press conference in Amman that the challenges in the Syrian track are great and they are convinced to face them, pointing out that the meeting was good and positive, and focused on the humanitarian aspect, the refugee issue and the delivery of humanitarian aid to all the Syrian people. He added, “In our meeting, we agreed to form a team of experts from all participating countries to lay out a roadmap for progress towards reaching a solution in Syria.”
The Jordanian minister revealed that the return of Syria to the League of Arab States “is a decision taken by the Arab countries and will be taken by the League in accordance with its mechanisms.”
