The Kuwaiti Council of Ministers today (Monday) submitted a draft decree dissolving the National Assembly to Crown Prince Sheikh Mishaal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah after approval, according to the Kuwait News Agency (KUNA).
The Cabinet held its weekly meeting today at Bayan Palace, headed by Prime Minister Sheikh Ahmad Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah.
The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs, Dr. Khaled Ali Muhammad Al-Fadhel, stated: “Based on the Prime Minister’s proposal and based on the text of Article (107) of the constitution, the Council of Ministers approved a draft decree dissolving the National Assembly, and submitted it to the Crown Prince.”
And the Crown Prince of Kuwait, Sheikh Mishaal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, announced last month the dissolution of the 2020 National Assembly, which was restored by the ruling of the Constitutional Court last March, a constitutional solution based on Article 107 of the constitution, as a victory for the popular will, which requires with it the need to return to it in new elections, in a speech she addressed. On behalf of the Emir of Kuwait, Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, last April 17.
Last March, the Constitutional Court ruled to invalidate the 2022 National Assembly elections, and to restore the elected parliament in 2020.
