The US Central Command announced today (Wednesday) that it targeted a senior leader in Al-Qaeda with a strike in northwestern Syria, stressing that it will provide more information when the details of the operation are available.
“At 11:42 a.m. local time on May 3, US Central Command forces carried out a unilateral strike in northwestern Syria targeting a senior al-Qaeda leader,” the US Central Command said in a statement.
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan announced two days ago the killing of ISIS leader Abu al-Hussein al-Qurashi in Syria, stressing in an interview with the Turkish TV station TRT that al-Qurashi’s neutralization came within the framework of an operation carried out by the Turkish National Intelligence in Syria (Saturday).
Erdogan noted that the intelligence services had been watching the ISIS leader for a long time.
The cards of the terrorist organizations fell after the killing of al-Qaeda leader Ayman al-Zawahiri in Afghanistan, which observers considered an inevitable end for the two terrorist organizations.
