The Israeli occupation authorities continued their aggressive practices against the Palestinians, and dozens of settlers, led by former member of the Knesset, Rabbi Yehuda Glick, stormed Al-Aqsa Mosque, under police guard, today (Sunday). The Israeli authorities demolished the “Challenge 2” primary school in Jub al-Dhib in Beit Tamar, east of Bethlehem, in the southern West Bank, which led to clashes with the Palestinian residents.
Large forces of the Israeli army stormed Tamar’s house and surrounded the school before demolishing it.
60 students from the first to the fourth grades are receiving education in the school, which is affiliated with the Palestinian Directorate of Education. It is noteworthy that Israel demolished the same school in 2017, before the residents rebuilt it again. The school is located on an 8 dunam land donated by a Palestinian family. It is built of bricks and tin and provides education to students from a number of small villages nearby.
For its part, the Palestinian Ministry of Education condemned the Israeli army’s destruction of the school, which caused the deprivation of its students from receiving their education in a free, safe and stable manner, similar to the children of the world.
And she said in a statement today: This heinous crime falls within the framework of the occupation’s ongoing crimes against the educational sector, and its targeting of children, students, educational cadres, and educational institutions without regard for the system of international conventions, customs, and laws.
The confrontations led to the injury of two Palestinians with rubber-coated metal bullets and the suffocation of dozens as a result of inhaling tear gas fired by the Israeli army. The Israeli army announced the arrest of 6 Palestinians in the West Bank during the previous night. He said in a statement: Soldiers from the Israeli army and the Shin Bet arrested 6 wanted persons throughout the West Bank. The Israeli occupation army has besieged the city of Jericho for more than two weeks.
