Today (Sunday), the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD) called on the two sides of the Sudanese conflict to seize the opportunity of the cease-fire talks in Jeddah, calling for the immediate and unconditional agreement to the cease-fire.
In a statement, IGAD urged the Sudanese Armed Forces and the Rapid Support Forces to immediately and unconditionally agree to a ceasefire for humanitarian reasons to allow the civilian population and families access to protection, safe passages for movement, access to health care services and to meet their nutritional needs, praising the regional and international efforts to work towards achieving Stability and peace in Sudan to serve the interests of the Sudanese people and the region.
In a related context, more than 20 people were killed and dozens injured in armed clashes between the Misseriya and Maalia tribes in the Sudanese state of West Kordofan, Darfur.
The Director of Information in the Darfur Regional Government, Musa Daoud Yahya, warned of a health disaster in the city of El Geneina, with hospitals and medical services stopped due to the battles that took place in the city’s neighborhoods during the past two days, explaining that the situation in Darfur is not much different from the situation in the rest of Sudan, but the current war has increased From the suffering of the population in the region as a result of the wars it witnessed during the past two decades.
