Saudi Arabia and its ally the United States succeeded in bringing together representatives of the two warring parties in Sudan since April 15, namely the Sudanese army and the Rapid Support Forces, in talks hosted by the city of Jeddah. It is still too early to predict how long the talks will last. However, the hope is very high that the two parties will reach an agreement that allows for a permanent cease-fire, and the opening of humanitarian corridors for civilians, who suffer from the hell of battles raging amid the neighborhoods of the Triangle cities of the capital and other cities, especially in Kordofan and Darfur, and the preservation of the infrastructure represented in the vital health facilities to serve the Sudanese. . The Saudi-American initiative for Sudan represents the first diplomatic effort to go beyond expressing concern and calling on both sides of the fighting to stop it. Rather, it is the first real effort to see the light, on the way to a solution that restores peace to Sudan, and opens the doors to a return to negotiations between the military and civilian components regarding the resumption of the civilian path of governance. These are negotiations that find a great deal of facilitation from several international and regional bodies, in which Saudi Arabia participates effectively and tangibly, since October 2021. Sudan is an ancient country that has close relations with Saudi Arabia from a long time ago, and the peoples of the two countries exchange respect and love over time. Therefore, it was not surprising that the Saudi leadership placed the solution to the Sudan crisis at the top of its diplomatic priorities.
