The Municipality of Jeddah Governorate won a number of judicial decisions during the past year, according to which it restored public rights and preserved property and public money.
The Director General of Legal Affairs, Khaled Muhammad Shafei, stated that the pleadings and cases initiated by the Secretariat during the past year are related to investment contracts, project contracts, land and public property issues, and included a number of sectors, including investment, projects and construction.
He added, that a set of final rulings came to reject the cases filed against the trust, including a final ruling against one of the investors in Obhur, which ruled to cancel a previous preliminary ruling by compensating him 130 million riyals and the ruling again to reject the case, in addition to the issuance of two rulings obligating two investors to pay dues to the trust that exceed their value. 163 million riyals.
Al-Shafei pointed to the Municipality’s keenness to implement programs for awareness and internal education in legal dealings, targeting departments and sub-municipalities, with the aim of preserving the rights of all parties, whether bodies or individuals.
It is noteworthy that the Jeddah Municipality is working to strengthen the legal path, through cadres specialized in managing pleadings and cases, in continuation of its efforts to preserve property and public money and collect dues by taking all legal measures.
