The commander of the Sudanese army, Lieutenant General Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan, today (Monday) expressed his thanks to Saudi Arabia for hosting the negotiations aimed at stopping the fighting, declaring his refusal to internationalize the Sudanese issue or impose external conditions.
He made it clear in statements to the Egyptian media that it is not possible now to talk about any date for a ceasefire, explaining that there is no benefit in negotiations with the “rapid support” if it does not leave the residential neighborhoods.
Al-Burhan said, “A peaceful solution is the best way to solve the current crisis in Sudan,” accusing the Rapid Support Forces of being stationed in hospitals and police stations in the capital, Khartoum.
“We are close to ending the presence of the Rapid Support Forces in Khartoum,” he added, expressing his fear of the war spreading to other Sudanese states.
He pointed out that the presence of the Rapid Support Forces in state institutions impedes the army’s operations.
