Amid continuing clashes between the Sudanese parties in Khartoum, the US State Department threatened today (Wednesday) to hold Sudan’s leaders responsible for the continued violence.
“We assured partners and allies that there is no military solution to the crisis in Sudan,” the US State Department said in a statement, expressing its gratitude to Saudi Arabia for hosting talks between the two parties to the conflict in Sudan.
The US State Department added: We are working with Saudi Arabia to reach a permanent ceasefire in Sudan.
In the latest developments, Al-Arabiya and Al-Hadath sources reported hearing the sound of violent raids by warplanes, this morning, in the field. Clashes continue in Khartoum, and according to eyewitnesses, army aircraft were seen flying in the capital and heavy weapons were heard east of Omdurman.
The sources stated that battles took place between the two parties in the areas of Shambat Al-Hilla, Al-Halfaya, Al-Inqaz Street, Al-Baraha, and east of the Nile, and the army advanced to a number of areas that were controlled by the Rapid Support Forces, but the Rapid Support Forces, through its official page, said that it controlled the Halfaya bridge linking Between Bahri and Omdurman.
The World Health Organization had revealed that the death toll among civilians had risen to 604, and more than 5,100 people were injured, while the United Nations called for the protection and respect of workers in humanitarian facilities, including hospitals, without accusing any specific party.
