The Minister of the Interior in the Lebanese caretaker government, Bassam Mawlawi, said: The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is the sponsor of Lebanon and the catalyst for the speedy election of a president for the republic.
After his meeting with the Ambassador of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques in Beirut, Walid bin Abdullah Bukhari, at his home in Yarzeh today (Friday), he added: “Our relationship with Saudi Arabia has not been interrupted and will not be interrupted, and we are fully carrying out our duties for the benefit of the Lebanese people.”
Bukhari visited the “renewal” parliamentary bloc, and Representative Michel Moawad, the candidate for the presidency, stated after the meeting that Saudi Arabia seeks to set rules for this region on the basis of the sovereignty of states, which increases our insistence that Lebanon should not be outside this time and outside growth and stability. He pointed out that Saudi Arabia affirms that the Lebanese have the right to choose the president and therefore bear the responsibility for this choice, and we insist that this entitlement not be a continuation of the policy of isolation. MP Moawad added: We insist that this stage be to end impoverishment and to become the page for restoring rights, and the entry point is the presidential elections.
