The Minister of Health, Fahd bin Abdul Rahman Al-Jalajil, confirmed that the initiative of the health sector transformation program contributed to encouraging the nursing profession and encouraged male and female citizens to practice the profession, which led to the demand of the sons and daughters of the country for it.
He stressed that the initiative had a direct impact on doubling the number of Saudi nursing staff from about 40,000 male and female nurses in 2015, until they reached more than 80,000 in 2022.
The Minister of Health expressed his thanks to nursing practitioners in the public and private health sectors, for their dedication to serving patients, and that they are the gateway to hope and recovery after God.
And he appreciated – on the occasion of International Nursing Day, which falls today (Friday), May 12, 2023 – the important and essential role that nurses play towards the health of the country and the citizen, stressing that their efforts and sacrifices during the Corona pandemic (Covid 19) were appreciated by the leadership and society, “With them and their fellow health practitioners, we crossed to safety, as they felt passion, sympathy, and mastery of the task entrusted to them in that pandemic, and worked with dedication and sincerity to serve the patient.”
He stressed that health sector cadres of all specializations and professions are the basis for achieving the goals of the health sector transformation program within the Saudi Vision 2030, to reach a vibrant society whose members enjoy a full and healthy life.
