The Saudi national team for mathematics participated in the Balkan Mathematical Olympiad, which will be held in Antalya, Turkey, during the period from 10/5/2023 to 12/5/2023.
The Saudi team won 6 medals, as the student Ali Al-Ramadan, the third secondary grader from the Eastern Education Department, won a silver medal, after a preparation trip during which he received 3720 hours of training, and the student Hadi Al-Aythan, the third secondary grader from the Eastern Education Department, won a bronze medal after intensive preparation, During which he received 3,720 hours of training in “Mawhiba” by a group of Saudi and foreign trainers, and student Mahdi Al-Beik, a third year secondary student from the Eastern Education Department, won a bronze medal after intensive preparation, during which he received 3,720 hours of training.
The student Moath Al-Qahtani, the first secondary grade from the Eastern Education Department, achieved a bronze medal, after intensive preparation, during which he received 3000 hours of training, and the student Iyad Al-Qatari, the third secondary grade from the Eastern Education Department, won a bronze medal, after intensive preparation, during which he received 3720 hours Finally, student Abdulrahman Nassif, a third year secondary student from the Madinah Education Department, won a bronze medal after intensive preparation, during which he received 4,440 hours of training in Mawhiba.
It is noteworthy that the Balkan Mathematics Olympiad is an annual mathematics competition, usually held at the beginning of May of each year, organized by the countries of the Balkans and Cyprus, and it is allowed to invite some countries from outside this region to participate, and it was launched in the year 1984, when its first session was organized by Greece. Similar to the systems in place in the International Mathematical Olympiad, where each team participates with a number not exceeding six students, provided that none of them has received any university education, and the age of one of them does not exceed 20 years, and Saudi Arabia participates annually in this competition starting from the year 2010.
Saudi Arabia’s participation in the Balkan Olympiad for Mathematics comes as part of the Mawhiba program for the International Olympiads, which is held in an integrated strategic partnership with the Ministry of Education. And 11 silver medals, 38 bronze medals, and 3 certificates of appreciation.
This achievement is considered an extension of the series of scientific achievements in international competitions in which Saudi Arabia participates, and is the result of the comprehensive efforts and the complementary relationship between the King Abdulaziz and His Companions Foundation for Giftedness and Creativity “Mawhiba”, the Ministry of Education, and their strategic partners.
