The Secretary-General of the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf, Mr. Jassim Muhammad Al-Budaiwi, welcomed the signing of the initial agreement between representatives of the Sudanese Armed Forces and representatives of the Rapid Support Forces, which was signed in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
The Secretary renewed his appreciation for the efforts and good offices made by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the United States of America with all parties during the previous meetings, to overcome all obstacles and difficulties and bring the views of all parties closer together.
He also expressed the hope that the response of the conflicting parties in the sisterly Republic of Sudan and their signing of this initial agreement, their agreement to allow safe passage for humanitarian workers and their commitment to conducting humanitarian and relief work and meeting the needs of civilians, will contribute towards ensuring the interests and safety of the Sudanese people as a major priority, and also towards the consolidation of sovereignty Sudan and preserving the unity of its institutions and territorial integrity, hoping that this agreement will lead to a lasting and comprehensive peaceful solution that preserves the sovereignty of the sister Republic of Sudan and achieves the aspirations of the Sudanese people for security, peace, political stability and development.
