As Israel continues its attacks on Gaza, a Palestinian source revealed today (Saturday) that the Islamic Jihad Movement has agreed to an Egyptian formula for a cease-fire, stressing that the Egyptian paper obliges Israel to stop bombing homes.
The Arab World News Agency quoted a source in the Islamic Jihad movement as saying, “We dealt positively with the new Egyptian card,” adding, “Israel did not give a commitment to stop the assassination of the movement’s leaders, but Egypt said it would work to freeze the policy of assassinations for a long time.”
The source indicated that they are awaiting the response of the Israeli side and are monitoring the field, indicating that the cease-fire will enter into force at ten o’clock in the evening, Palestine time.
A Palestinian political source said that the Palestinian and Israeli sides agreed to a cease-fire, which includes stopping attacks on Palestinian homes and civilians, and stopping air strikes on Gaza.
In turn, the Israeli Army Radio quoted a security source as saying, “It seems that the ceasefire will enter into force.”
The Israeli occupation army had resumed bombing Gaza today, after a relatively quiet night, while the armed Palestinian factions fired dozens of rockets at the towns of southern Israel.
