Amid Western support with weapons, German government sources revealed today (Saturday) that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky will visit Berlin tomorrow (Sunday).
This is Zelensky’s ninth visit to Western countries after visiting America, Poland, Britain, France, Belgium, Finland, the Netherlands and Italy since the beginning of the war.
Zelensky had visited Germany in February before the war broke out to attend the Munich Security Conference.
In a related context, the German government announced today a new military aid plan to Ukraine worth 2.7 billion euros, which is being prepared and includes many tanks, armored vehicles and anti-aircraft defense systems.
“We all want a quick end to this brutal war that Russia is waging against the Ukrainian people, but unfortunately it is not in sight, and that is why Germany will provide all possible assistance, as long as it is necessary,” Defense Minister Boris Pistorius said in a statement.
On the other hand, the European Union’s foreign policy official, Josep Borrell, called today on the European Union to accelerate the supply of ammunition to Ukraine, attributing this to the fact that the Ukrainian forces need 1,000 artillery shells per day in the Bakhmut region alone.
Borrell said that Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba briefed his counterparts in the European Union during a meeting in Stockholm about Kiev’s need for more support to defend itself in the face of the Russian invasion, adding: Ukraine needs about 1,000 artillery shells per day in the vicinity of the city of Bakhmut, where fighting is taking place in the east. country.
