“Okaz” learned from sources in the Yemeni government about the postponement of negotiations for the new detainees’ deal until the beginning of next month. The negotiations were scheduled according to the March 20 agreement in the Swiss capital, Bran, on May 15, to be preceded by a mutual visit to the detainees in the prisons of the Yemeni parties.
A source – who preferred not to be named – told Okaz: There are arrangements for field visits for prisoners and abductees in prisons, but until now no specific date has been agreed upon, stressing that the visits will pave the way for the resumption of negotiations on the new deal.
The source added: I expect the negotiations to be held at the end of this month or the beginning of next month, indicating that the Yemeni government is fully prepared to negotiate about all for all at any moment.
The Yemeni government and the Houthis had exchanged about 889 prisoners and abductees in mid-April.
