The Jeddah Municipality announced the cancellation of the investment contract for Obhur Al Janoubia Beach, known as “Jeddah Creek” beach, which was opened at the beginning of the current month of Shawwal.
Okaz sources revealed that the cancellation of the contract came because the investor of Obhur South Beach did not adhere to the terms of the contract, which stipulate opening the beach to the public without fees, and the existence of violations represented in the beach fencing.
The source explained that the site management worked to fence the project and made entry through the electronic gates, which means that there is no possibility of free entry to the public beach, which contravenes the contract signed with the Municipality. Several complaints had reached the Jeddah Municipality, and social media platforms circulated them about preventing free entry, imposing fees on services, and preventing beachgoers and swimmers from accessing the beach.
The sources added that the investor imposed a fee of (65 riyals) for public entry to the beach, although the regulations impose free public entry to that area, and confirmed that the investor had failed to pay the financial consideration for his investment in the beach and several fines were issued against him for several violations. It is noteworthy that, on the fourth of Shawwal, the governorate of Jeddah witnessed the inauguration of the project, which was developed in partnership with the private sector on an area of 24,000 square meters and a 400-meter swimming beach. The beach includes several facilities and integrated services, including outdoor and indoor sessions, sun loungers, and a group of restaurants in an air-conditioned lounge, in addition to ice cream and coffee kiosks. Beach facilities also include changing rooms, shower rooms, toilets, water games in the sea, and a children’s play area. To relax with a music sound system that covers the entire beach.
