The Ministry of Justice confirmed the translation of 22,000 judicial sessions remotely, through the Unified Translation Center, during the first quarter of 2023.
The Ministry stated that the center provides its services by employing technology through electronic litigation, as simultaneous remote translation services are provided with audio and video during judicial sessions, which contributes significantly to saving time and effort and speeding up judicial procedures.
She indicated that the center enables non-Arabic speakers to follow up on their cases, through translators who speak more than 20 languages.
The Ministry of Justice referred to the training of translators to provide accurate translation for beneficiaries and to understand common legal terminology used in courts, explaining that the most translated languages are English, Urdu, Bengali, Pashto, Filipino, and Hindi.
And she stated that the center is equipped with advanced technologies, where the translation takes place in complete confidentiality, with the link between the center, the court and the prisons, and when the verdict is announced by the judge, the non-Arabic-speaking parties can immediately understand the sentence’s utterance, to become aware of the step that they must take.
