On board the International Space Station, Saudi astronaut Ali Al-Qarni began conducting a microgravity seeding experiment, the results of which may contribute to raising the artificial seeding rate by 50%.
The experiment simulates the cloud seeding process that is used in Saudi Arabia and many countries to increase precipitation rates, and the experiment is conducted to help scientists and researchers devise new ways to provide and create an environment suitable for humans – including the work of artificial rain – to live under conditions of microgravity, and aims to know the possibility of success Seeding in future settlements on the Moon and Mars.
The effect of the experiment, which comes under the supervision of King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals, is to improve the researchers’ understanding of the technology of seeding, which helps the success of the seeding process in many countries of the world that lack rain.
