While the Israeli occupation army ended the operation to invade Jenin in the occupied West Bank, which lasted for two days and resulted in the death of 12 Palestinians and an Israeli soldier, it launched a raid on the Gaza Strip today (Wednesday). “The operation has officially ended and the soldiers have left the Jenin area,” a spokeswoman for the Israeli army told AFP.
A spokesman for the occupation army said: The operation in Jenin was complex and in a difficult area, but we have achieved its objectives. He added that the occupation arrested 300 and killed 12 Palestinians during the military operation. Eyewitnesses reported that dozens of Israeli military vehicles continued their withdrawal from the camp while remaining on the outskirts of Jenin.
Convoys of Israeli army vehicles were seen leaving Jenin, in what seemed to be an indication of the end of the Israeli operation, which began in the early hours of Monday morning. Palestinian media reported that separate clashes took place with Israeli forces during their withdrawal from the city.
The Israeli occupation army (Monday) stormed Jenin, in the largest operation since the “defensive wall” in 2002, as more than 3,000 soldiers, 200 military vehicles and dozens of aircraft participated in the storming.
Today, Israel launched air strikes on targets in the Gaza Strip, in response to rocket fire at Israeli territory, according to the Israeli army.
The occupation forces targeted a Hamas military site in northern Gaza, without causing any casualties.
In a related context, the Palestinian Ministry of Health announced on Tuesday-Wednesday night that another Palestinian was killed in Jenin, which raises the death toll as a result of the Israeli operation to 12, while more than 120 others were injured.
