The Food and Drug Authority confirmed that potassium bromate is banned in Saudi Arabia and is not allowed to be used in food products.
The authority’s confirmation came after inquiries received in response to a video circulating of a person warning against eating baked goods found in shops that may contain carcinogenic potassium bromate, in order to improve the texture and taste of bread, indicating that it is better to prepare baked goods at home, which is what he called « Food and Drug Administration” to stress that the substance is prohibited in Saudi Arabia.
