Yesterday, during its convening, the Shura Council issued its forty-third regular session of the work of the third year of the eighth session, headed by the Chairman of the Council, Sheikh Dr. Abdullah Al Al-Sheikh. The Food and Drug Authority to expedite the completion of closing safety warnings on medical devices and supplies, according to the time plan.
The council emphasized that the Food and Drug Authority should study the causes of stumbling and delay in some of its projects, and work to address them and prepare a plan to meet its building needs, in coordination with the General Authority for State Real Estate.
During the session, he called on the Radio and Television Corporation to develop a plan to reach the target segments of the audience and increase their percentage, according to a timetable that will be reflected in raising their advertising revenues and getting closer to achieving the requirements of privatization.
He also called on the commission to develop a standard mechanism for selecting and producing distinguished programs internally or through external contracting, based on the objectives of defining the image of the Kingdom, highlighting its status, achieving public viewing rates and advertising sponsorship. The committee took the content of an additional recommendation to this recommendation made by Council member Bandar Asiri.
The Council affirmed that the Radio and Television Corporation should review the extent of the impact of strategic partnerships and media, production and digital contracts signed with private sector institutions on building national human cadres and the competitiveness of its channels and platforms in the media and advertising. And to determine the future benefit of it for the work of the media and engineering authority.
Highlighting the status of the Kingdom
The Shura Council called on the Ministry of Culture to pay attention to the intangible cultural heritage of all regions of the Kingdom and to introduce it and its various styles locally, regionally and globally.
The Council called on the Ministry of Culture, represented by the Costume Authority, to document the traditional costumes for each of the regions of the Kingdom, display them and introduce them internally and externally.
In the same decision, he stressed that the ministry should redouble efforts to ensure the achievement of its objectives in accordance with the specified timetables.
He called on the ministry to review the large number of committees to which it is affiliated, and to consider the possibility of assigning the work carried out by the committees to the executive departments.
In his decision, he affirmed that the Ministry of Culture should increase the representation of its affiliated bodies in the ministry’s branches and offices in all regions of the Kingdom, which is an additional recommendation made by Council member Dr. Ali Al-Ali.
He also stressed that the ministry should coordinate with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to work on a strategy for cultural diplomacy that contributes to highlighting Saudi culture globally and enhances the soft power of the Kingdom.
In the same decision, the Council called on the Ministry of Culture, in coordination with the relevant authorities, to study the development of archaeological sites of ancient civilizations and sites close to them, and to turn them into tourist destinations.
Reports of ministries and agencies
During this session, the Shura Council issued a decision regarding what was included in the annual report of the National Center for Debt Management for the fiscal year 1443/1444 AH, in which it stressed that the National Center for Debt Management should carry out more studies to track the impact of local financing on the financing portfolio of local banks and its impact on the financing sector in Kingdom, liquidity levels and interest rates.
The Council called on the Center, in conjunction with the relevant authorities, to develop a time plan with specific goals. To facilitate updates of some indicators of developments and movement of vision programs through the official websites of these entities. He called on the General Organization for the Preservation of Coral Reefs and Turtles in the Red Sea to work on building its human capacities through coordination with the relevant local authorities to discuss assigning and seconding their specialists to transfer experience and knowledge to them, and to discuss ways of cooperation with educational authorities and institutions to qualify specialists in the field of their tasks.
It discussed the annual report of the National Center for Performance Measurement of Public Agencies for the fiscal year 1443/1444 AH. A member of the Shura Council, Nayef Al-Watban, called on the National Center for Performance Measurement of Public Agencies (ADAA) to work to ensure that the performance indicators of public agencies are comprehensive and compatible with their strategic objectives, with realistic and ambitious targets.
The council discussed the annual reports of the National Center for the Development of the Non-Profit Sector, the Saudi Authority for Industrial Estates and Technology Zones, and the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah.
