The Kingdom’s accession to the Treaty of Amity and Cooperation in Southeast Asia was led by the official media and news agencies of the ASEAN countries, as they touched on this event, which is increasingly important in the midst of the rapid dynamic of events in the region and Saudi Arabia’s track record in consolidating the constants of peace, and reducing international disputes by formulating initiatives to heal the rift and end Disagreements until Riyadh became known as a peacemaker, as specialists in ASEAN affairs confirmed that Saudi Arabia’s position, lofty message, and constant calls to address issues by activating channels of dialogue, negotiation, and peaceful solutions will be positively reflected in enhancing security, stability, and prosperity in the Indo-Pacific region.
Indonesian Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi, who is chairing the current session of the ASEAN ministerial meeting held in the Indonesian capital, Jakarta, welcomed Saudi Arabia’s accession to the Treaty of Amity and Cooperation in the ASEAN Association.
For his part, the Saudi cultural attache to Malaysia, Dr. Fahd Al-Shammari, confirmed that the signing of the Foreign Minister, Prince Faisal bin Farhan, on the Kingdom’s accession document to the Treaty of Amity and Cooperation in Southeast Asia is an extension of the Kingdom’s pioneering role in maintaining world peace and security and strengthening international cooperation.
Al-Shammari added that the event resonated widely in the various academic and elite circles in a number of ASEAN countries, who emphasized that Saudi Arabia’s initiatives enhance the common vision on security, peace and development, and today it has become an influential force with a prominent presence globally and regionally.
