A medical team in Al-Qunfudhah Governorate succeeded in extracting a car key stuck in the respiratory system of a forty-year-old patient who almost took his life, in a quick 15-minute operation through laparoscopy.
The Ministry of Health confirmed that the medical teams were able yesterday (Tuesday) to save the life of a 49-year-old patient who arrived at the emergency department suffering from obstruction of the airway.
The patient, who told the doctors that he was playing with the key in his mouth, swallowed it by mistake, which caused him a state of partial suffocation, which required surgical intervention through binoculars to extract the stuck metal object.
The patient, who was found to be suffering from heart disease, is subject to admission until his health condition stabilizes and he is discharged to complete the convalescence period at home.
