Yesterday (Sunday), the Jeddah governorate witnessed the Arab Football Association announcing the sponsorship of a Gulf airline company for the King Salman Club Cup 2023, as a major sponsor of the tournament, whose competitions will be held from July 27 to August 12 in Taif, Abha and Al-Baha.
And in the presence of the Secretary-General of the Arab Federation, Dr. Raja Allah Al-Salami, and the Vice President of Operations for the airline, Jabr Al-Azibi, where the Secretary-General of the Arab Football Association welcomed the company to sponsor the King Salman Cup for clubs, stressing that “this sponsorship will add great success to this great tournament,” looking forward to sponsoring others with major companies.
For his part, the company’s vice president, Jabr Al-Azibi, confirmed that “sponsoring a large tournament, the size of the King Salman Cup for clubs, came after a deep study on the part of the company, following a great and great interest in this tournament, as it bears a name dear to all of us, which is King Salman bin Abdulaziz, may God protect him.” Noting that «the company used, according to its strategy, to sports sponsorships by choosing the best international events and tournaments in various games, and the King Salman Cup for Arab Clubs is one of them», stressing «We look forward with great interest to the success of this partnership to contribute to the success of the tournament».
It is expected to announce new sponsors for the tournament, which is scheduled to start on July 27, in Saudi Arabia, with the participation of 16 teams.
This edition of the tournament is held under the name “King Salman Cup for Champions Clubs”, and the total prize money is about $10 million.
All teams will participate in the King Salman Cup for Champions Clubs with all their stars, with the exception of Al-Nasr, who will play in the first two matches of the reserve team, because his main team is involved in a friendly international tournament in Japan this month, as part of its preparations for the next season.
The version of the Arab Championship, with its new system, was held in 2019, under the name “Zayed Cup for Champions”, and it was won by the Tunisian coastal star, after the victory in the final over Al-Hilal Saudi Arabia 2-1. The 2020 version was held under the name “Mohamed VI Champions Cup”, and it was won by Moroccan Raja at the expense of Saudi Al-Ittihad, 4-3 on penalties, after the match ended in a 4-4 draw.
