Based on the royal order to transform King Saud University into an independent, non-profit academic institution, under the umbrella of the Royal Commission for the City of Riyadh, based on what was submitted by the Crown Prince, Prime Minister and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Royal Commission for the City of Riyadh, Prince Muhammad bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, the Crown Prince issued an order to form the University’s Board of Directors headed by Youssef bin Abdullah Al-Bunyan, and the Minister of Human Resources and Social Development as Vice-President, and the membership of each of: the Minister of Communications and Information Technology, the Minister of Transport and Logistics, the Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources, the President of King Saud University, and the President of the Saudi Authority for Data and Information Artificial Intelligence, Fahd bin Abdul Mohsen Al-Rasheed, CEO of King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Center, Governor of the General Authority for Small and Medium Enterprises, CEO of the Riyadh Non-Profit Foundation, President of King Abdullah University of Science and Technology, CEO of the Saudi Tourism Authority, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Federation of Saudi Chambers, Representative of the Public Investment Fund, Salman bin Mutaib Al-Sudairy, Tal bin Hisham Nazer, and Jumana bint Rashid Al-Rashed.
On this occasion, the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the University, Yousef bin Abdullah Al-Bunyan, raised his thanks and appreciation to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and his Crown Prince, on the occasion of the issuance of the royal order to form the Board of Directors of King Saud University for a new session, and to appoint him as its president, appreciating the leadership’s support for university education in the Kingdom, and stressing the Council’s keenness to achieve a qualitative leap in the university’s march on the basis of empowerment, excellence and quality, and the development of the educational and research process, in line with the Kingdom’s 2030 vision.
In turn, the Acting CEO of the Royal Commission for the City of Riyadh, Eng. Ibrahim bin Muhammad Al-Sultan, raised his thanks and appreciation to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and the Crown Prince, Prime Minister and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Royal Commission for the City of Riyadh, Prince Muhammad bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, for the care and attention they give to the education sector in the Kingdom.
He pointed to the great interest that the leadership attaches to the development of national cadres, and that “the vision of the Crown Prince, Prime Minister and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Royal Commission for the City of Riyadh to transform King Saud University into an independent, non-profit academic institution, a key enabler to achieve the ambitious goals of the university to be among the leading universities in the world by 2030, and supportive of the transformation journey that will contribute to improving the quality of education and its outputs, attracting talents, competencies and the brightest minds, and preparing a generation characterized by the highest skills to meet the requirements of the 21st century, in addition to Ensuring that the university’s outputs are aligned with the Kingdom’s directions, which will contribute to making the capital one of the largest city economies in the world.
It is noteworthy that King Saud University aims to serve education in the city of Riyadh in particular and in the Kingdom in general, in addition to its endeavor to be a leading institution regionally and globally in the field of university education in order to contribute to the development of the national economy, and works to meet the needs of the labor market and the knowledge economy in order to align its business with advancing the process of growth and development and promoting scientific research, innovation, creativity and leadership in various academic and applied fields.
It is worth noting that King Saud University was established as the first university in the Kingdom with the issuance of Royal Decree No. 17 on Rabi` al-Akhir 21 1377 AH. The university’s focus is primarily on the quality of education, scientific research and entrepreneurship, in order to prepare and prepare its graduates by developing their skills and abilities for lifelong learning and arming them with knowledge to become the leaders of the country in the future. At the same time, the university aspires to spread and enhance knowledge in the Kingdom in order to expand the base of scientific and literary studies, and then keep pace with the leading countries in the fields of arts and sciences, and work to contribute to discoveries and inventions.
